Ceiliúradh 35 Bliana 1981 – 2016 Celebrating 35 Years
Our school opened in September, 1981, with 73 students. Over the past 35 years it has gone from strength to strength producing over 3500 graduates who have benefitted from the education, standards and values promoted by Holy Family Community School. The quality of our school can be measured by the holistic education received by all our students, enabling them to realise their full potential. Our ongoing development and success comes from all members of the school community using their talents and working together to ensure that ‘the whole is greater than the sum of the parts’.
We wish to thank our Trustees, current and former Boards of Management for their loyalty and dedication to our school over the past 35 years. In particular we wish to thank our Chairpersons, Fr. Noel Redmond, the late Mr. John Costello and our current Chairperson, Mr. Dermot Lahey, for their commitment to our school. We would especially like to acknowledge the outstanding service of Fr. Noel Redmond, member of the Board of Management for the past 35 years and Chairperson for the first 28 years.
We are indebted to our former Principals, Mr. Tomás Ó Séaghdha and Mr. John Walsh, who inspired, motivated and guided us, and put the school on a solid foundation. Our current and former staff members are deserving of our thanks for their enormous commitment and contributions to our school. Our students have flourished under their care.
We wish to acknowledge the loyalty and support of our parents over the past 35 years. The Parents’ Councils have always actively supported and participated in the development of our school. The contributions of current and past students are too numerous to list. In particular, the Students’ Councils and Mentors are to be commended for their work and leadership. We are very grateful for the support of our local community since 1981.
A new school building will be a welcome enhancement but our school is much more than a building. It is a community of learners, striving for excellence in all areas while nurturing the well-being of all. We are confident that all members of the school community, working together, will continue to rise to the challenge of providing for the educational needs of the local community into the future.
