Holy Family Community school has once again been recognised as the top fundraising school for Concern in Ireland. During the academic year, 2014 – 2015, Holy Family Community School raised €18,000 for Concern projects in Chad, Central Africa. Staff, students and parents raised €9,000 and this was matched euro for euro by world leading cloud-based software company, EMC Corporation. Following in the footsteps of Sr. Kathleen Russell (retired), school Chaplain, Mr. Noel McConnell led the school’s Christmas Fast for Concern and fundraising campaign from November, 2014 to January 2015. The great work carried out by everyone resulted in the school being awarded a trip to Ethiopia to see and participate in a number of the projects being conducted by Concern in this country. Two lucky students, Chloe Callaghan and Maeve Dolan, were selected to travel with Mr. Noel McConnell and Ms. Claire Marshall (Concern) to help out in this country ravaged by drought and famine. This trip should prove to be life-changing for the students concerned and we are certain that this will be reflected in their care for others in the future.
