The Green Schools committee, made up of a number of teachers and students from all years, have been working hard for the last 12 months to change HFCS into a more environmentally friendly school. We have made a lot of progress, such as ensuring that there are recycling bins in all classrooms and that students and staff are aware of the correct materials to put in these bins.
This year we have made our most important move yet by banning single-use plastic bottles as of September 2019. As a school with approximately 1000 people on the premises every day, we have already seen a massive reduction in the use of plastic bottles and in turn a huge reduction in litter around the school building.
